Description
Our organic St. John's wort hydrolate for perfumery comes from the species Hypericum perforatum. In trade practice, the liquid bears the name St. John's wort Organic Hydrolat for Perfumery. Steam distillation underlies its production and determines the purity of the aromatic line. The strength of the scent remains mild, as the aqueous phase retains only a small part of the volatile compounds that the floral raw material releases during distillation. The Hypericaceae family comprises species with a pronounced glandular structure in the aerial organs and with a volatile fraction in the flowering part. The translucent glands in the floral organs form a subepidermal cavity and hold the volatile part of the finished liquid. The flowers of the plant are used for extraction. The color ranges from colorless to pale yellow, because the floral mass releases very few coloring substances. The raw material comes from organic plantations in Bulgaria. The organic method of cultivation keeps the composition simple, which is why the distillate contains only an aqueous base and a volatile part, with no preservatives and no colorants. The scent unites herbal, warm and slightly sweet directions in a single overall profile. The herbal direction sets the main tone, while the warmth and the light sweet nuance remain in the background of the overall aromatic picture of the distillate. In physical appearance, the hydrolate is a clear liquid. The inflorescences are terminal and open, built as a cyme, which explains the floral origin of the aromatic part. The mild aromatic strength goes hand in hand with the light tone, since both features derive from the common floral raw material at the base of the distillate. St. John's wort forms a light distillate with a mild herbal base and a warm, slightly sweet finish to the scent.
Application
In perfumery, St. John's wort flower hydrolate is used as a delicate component with a mild herbal character and a warm, slightly sweet finish. It fits well into fine floral compositions, where it highlights the delicate notes and gives the entire fragrance a natural softness. It is suitable for light daytime fragrances with a balanced character, as well as for summer blends with an airy structure, to which it brings discreet freshness. As an aromatic base, it supports the construction of multilayered scents, as it seamlessly connects the individual layers and softens the transition between notes. In compositions with intense or woody accords, it has a softening effect and contributes to a harmonious and even development of the fragrance. It is also included in refreshing body sprays and light scent mists, where its fine profile ensures an unobtrusive and pleasant presence. In aromatic waters with a gradual unfolding of notes, it adds softness and warmth, while in balancing formulas it helps achieve a calm and complete character of the blend. It is also used in creating light scent veils with a short-lived presence, as well as fine aromatic extracts, in which it complements the floral and herbal profile. Thanks to its gentle aromatic strength, it is also suitable for individual fragrances with a mild character, where a natural profile and delicate depth are sought.
